What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy works by tuning laser light to specific wavelengths and frequencies and applying them to an organism to stimulate the metabolic process at the cellular level. This response is called photobiomodulation.

During photobiomodulation, photons penetrate the tissue and interact within the mitochondria, triggering a wave of events leading to decreased pain and inflammation and increased blood flow to the treatment area. The increased blood flow on the cellular level enables the affected area to heal more quickly. This treatment is cleared by the FDA, providing patients with an alternative to surgery or drugs for relief.

Lasers have no effect on normal tissue because photons of light are only absorbed and utilized by the cells that need them.

At Renewed Wellness Center, located in Novi, Michigan, our technicians are all certified by Aspen Laser, the leader in laser therapy technology.

Please watch the video below provided by Aspen Laser to understand the history of and science behind photobiomodulation (laser therapy).

During your intake appointment, you will meet with our wellness coordinator for a consultation. They will review your condition and go over the ins and outs of the treatment with you. They will cover the costs of the treatment and make recommendations on the number of sessions needed and how often. Our expert coordinators determine the source of your pain and the best way to treat it.

step

3

Treatment could begin during the first appointment! If you are wearing clothing that can easily be rearranged to expose your skin at the treatment area, you will not have to change. If not, a gown will be provided. You and the laser therapy technician will both wear protective eyewear so there is no exposure to the light from the lasers. The wand, which technicians say resembles a travel hairdryer, will be in constant motion around the treatment area. A typical treatment takes about 10-15 minutes, unless you are targeting more than one area of the body.

Continue with your day! There is no need to go home and recover after a session. You can return to home, work or school immediately.

What is laser therapy?

Frequently Asked Questions

What does laser therapy do?

Laser therapy is a type of medical treatment that uses focused beams of intense light to treat various conditions. The light from the laser can either be pulsed or continuous, and is used to target specific areas of the body. Laser therapy has been shown to be effective in treating various conditions, including pain, inflammation, and wounds.

How long does it take for laser therapy to work?

Laser therapy can effectively reduce pain and inflammation in a short time, and some patients feel relief after just one session. Laser Therapy results are cumulative, and it is important to stay the course of treatment and complete your prescribed plan to achieve optimal results.

How long does a laser therapy session last?

A typical laser therapy session lasts 15-20 minutes. If you have more than one area being treated the session time will be extended as needed.

How often should you do laser therapy?

Every patient and their condition is unique. There are many factors we consider when creating your personalized treatment plan, such as the severity of your condition, how long you have been suffering from the condition, the location of the pain, and the cause, to name a few. Schedule your appointment today to meet with us, and we can work with you to create your treatment plan.

Can you treat more than one area at a time with laser therapy?

We can treat more than one area at a time, and it is sometimes preferable as one area of the body can affect another, so treating both can be a more effective approach. The length of each session will be extended as we increase the number of areas treated during a single session.

Does laser therapy reduce inflammation?

Yes, laser therapy stimulates and accelerates healing and tissue regeneration, reduces inflammation, and restores normal cellular function.

Does laser therapy heal nerves?

Patients have reported a significant improvement in neuropathy after a couple of sessions. Results can range from a complete resolution of the neuropathy to a noticeable improvement in pain and other symptoms.

Can I do laser therapy in combination with other treatments?

Yes, we can absolutely work with you while you are receiving other treatments. Pease let us know more about other treatments you are receiving during your consultation and we will make sure to address any concerns we may have.

How much is laser therapy?

We truly strive to make laser therapy available to all patients. We will go over payment and financing options with you during your initial consultation.

Do you take health insurance?

We do not bill health insurance in our office. If you are coming to us as a result of an auto accident, some of your treatment could be covered by your automobile insurance. We can discuss your options during your consultation.
